Mind Medicine Australia exists to alleviate the immense suffering caused by mental illness in Australia by expanding the treatment options available to medical practitioners and their patients. Our story is different though, we are bringing new hope to a struggling mental healthcare system through medicine-assisted psychotherapy. Our organisation is leading the global movement towards the therapeutic consideration of substances such as psilocybin and MDMA.
Recently we have made applications to Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration to reclassify psilocybin and MDMA from prohibited substances to controlled medicines. This would make Australia the first country in the world to recognise psilocybin and MDMA for a therapeutic purpose.
Legislation, regulation and science is just one part of the story, though.
Without an understanding of the real life healing, the real life hope, and the real life people these therapies will affect, we will only ever see the tip of the iceberg.
We need your help to share stories of healing and hope with Australia.
In early 2021 Mind Medicine Australia will be compiling a book of stories from people from all over the country. Step by step, story by story, we will remove this stigma that has held medical innovation back decades.
Please tell us your story of healing by answering the following prompts below:
